CURO Members Rules for Technical Diving

Members of CURO who offer technical diving services agree to abide by these standards to ensure the highest level of instruction on Bonaire.

Technical Diving is defined as ANY diving done beyond the established recommendations of the Recreational Diving Agencies. Including, but not limited to deep diving (deeper that 130 ft)”, Stage Decompression Diving, Mixed gas diving (Nitrox mixes above 40%, pure O2 & any Tri-mix or Heliox), Wreck penetrations with a combined depth and penetration of more than 130 ft, Cave Diving.

Dive Guide requirements:
• Be certified to do the dive AND Guide Divers on that dive. Be certified as a Technical Instructor or Technical Divemaster for the type of dive being done. Open Water Scuba Instructors and Divemasters are certified to guide dives no deeper than 130ft.
• Be certified to use the gases used during the dive.
• Be properly equipped, i.e. high capacity single with dual outlet valve or doubles with an isolation manifold, for all dives deeper than 130 ft.
• Ensure that all diving\training activities comply at all times with current standards, procedures and policies applicable to the certification level of all participants.

Diver requirements:
• Be certified to do the dive or be a student doing a training dive for a course being taught by a qualified Technical Instructor.
• Be certified to use the gases used during the dive.
• Be properly equipped, i.e. high capacity single with dual outlet valve or doubles with an isolation manifold, for all dives deeper than 130 ft.
